New Zealand thrashed Bangladesh 3-0 in the recently concluded one-day series. Here is a look at the top performers of the series dominated by India.

Neil Broom: He had an excellent comeback after more than six years out of the team. Broom finished the series as the top run-getter, by a distance. Broom was the only batsman across the two teams to cross the 200-run mark. The middle-order bat totalled 228 runs in three innings at a brilliant average of 114 with one hundred and one fifty, the other one was also nearly a hundred. After managing only 22 in his comeback ODI, he went on to smash an unbeaten 109 at Nelson. In the final ODI, also at the same venue, he fell short of a second consecutive ton by three runs. It was enough to aid the Kiwis in clean sweeping the series though.

Tom Latham: The New Zealand opener finished the series as the second highest run-getter with 163 runs at an average of 54.33 with one hundred, the best of 137. This knock came in the series opener at Christchurch, and set up the series nicely for the hosts. In the second ODI, he hit a cameo of 22 before finishing the series with a disappointing 4. Latham will be pleased with his overall effort in the year though.

Kane Williamson: The New Zealand was also in fine form. He scored 140 runs in the series at an average of 70 with a best of 95 not out. After 31 and 14 in the first two matches, he finished the series on a high with his highest score of the series. Impressively, he also claimed four wickets with the ball. His best of 3 for 22 came in the second match. Williamson’s bowling average in the series was 11.50.

Tim Southee: The Kiwi pace spearhead was the most successful bowler with five wickets from three matches, at an average of 28.20, with an economy rate of 4.89 and a strike rate of 34.6. Southee claimed 2 for 63 in the first ODI. In the second match, he finished with 2 for 33 to restrict Bangladesh. In the final ODI at Nelson, he picked up 1 for 45. Southee was mostly at the Bangladesh batsmen, and did not give them much scope to go for the big shots.

Shakib Al Hasan: The Bangladesh all-rounder was the only player from his side to have a decent run. But, much more was expected of him. He was joint highest wicket-taker with five wickets at an average of 33.80, His economy rate was however over six, but his strike rate was good at 33.6. He claimed 3 for 69 in the first game, and 2 for 45 in the second. Shakib made 59 in the bat in the first match, but only managed 7 and 18 in the next two games. Shakib’s efforts were not enough to give Bangladesh victory in any game.
